Ethan Hunt, Special Agent Age: Undetermined A.K.A: Parent of Team T-Rex Student Hello, Mr. Hunt. You job if you choose to accept it is a true Mission Impossible. Your job is to help your seventh grade student improve his/her organization skills. You will be allowed to choose from a wide variety of tools to assist you in your task. Please choose wisely! The freedom of the world as we know it is in your hand. Your tools you may select for this Mission Impossible are listed below: Mr. Hunt, you will find out that the three ring binder is the most effective piece of equipment at your disposal. This binder should have dividers within it to help organize the contents. The parts of the three ring binder are listed below: 1.) Classroom Notes and Handouts Classroom notes are very important to each student making the individual connection with the information presented in class. Mr. Hunt, if the students do not take notes, either on the handouts provided or on loose leaf paper, your chances of saving the world are very slim. Classroom notes allow a student to stay active during a lesson, and they allow a student to take those notes home to review every night for possible pop quizzes. These notes should be dated every day for possible notebook quizzes. Classroom handouts are a staple in this class. Most of the handouts model the exact way the concept will be assessed on quizzes or tests. Handouts are a form of notes in which the student does not have to record any data besides the date. Both notes and handouts have a separate section in the binder to keep information truly organized. 3.) Homework Homework is the way each team practices for the week's game. Check out www.cool-emath.com to view or check assignments on a daily basis. An organized homework section of a binder helps students study for upcoming quizzes and tests. 4.) Graded quizzes and Tests Graded quizzes are and excellent source of information for upcoming quizzes, tests, or exams. Most quizzes are formed from the notes and handouts of the previous week. Most tests are formed from the quizzes of the previous weeks. Most unit exams are formed from the tests of that unit. The binder has a section just for quizzes and a section for tests. Keeping them separated will help them prepare better for upcoming tests and help you assess how they are doing. Ethan, the assignment book is also one weapon you can trust will save the life of all the students you try to assist. If the student keeps track of all his/her assignments in this book that the school provides free of charge, he/she can never say "I forgot I had homework". If your child loses his/her assignment book, they can buy a new new quickly for a nominal fee. The 7th Grade math textbook is a last resort for you to use Mr. Hunt. Almost all concepts within the classroom can be found within the textbook. Our textbook in use is very user friendly, and several of my website's worksheets are from this series. If the student has forgot everything else, at least if he has his/her textbook, you can salvage the mission. Mr. Hunt, you have our full blessing to assign problems from this textbook on a regular basis to help you assess whether or not your mission is moving forward towards its completion. You can view additional resources from the textbook by clicking here. This message will self-destruct in five seconds!! |
