Cool-eFootball League

ESPN QB Challenge

X's and O's Football

The Cool-eFootball League is the combination of several classroom management tools to help motivate and teach the students of my classroom the concept of accountability.  The basic concept of this activity is that each of my five classes is assigned the identity of an N.F.L football team.  Each team has their own smaller football field where they can earn first downs or penalties.  These first downs can result in touchdowns and the penalties can result in safeties.

The way that the team compete against one another is that each team helmet in on the CFL football field.  The goal of the CFL field to score a touchdown.  Each time a team scores the required cumulative average percentage for any assessment, the team will move at least one yard right towards a touchdown.  All teams start at the left 10 yard line of the CFL football field, so they must earn 90 yards or steps on their field to move to the right to for the touchdown on the CFL field.  Poor cumulative scores or poor behavior during class will move teams on the CFL field backwards or to the left.  The first team to score a touchdown on the CFL field is declared Super bowl Champion for that "season" or contest.  The Superbowl team receives a pizza party for their reward!!  As soon a Super bowl winner is decided, the teams are reset back at the left 10 yard line, and the contest begins a new "season". The number of Superbowls champions is totally based on how quickly the classes move down the field.

First downs (good assessment averages or good behavior) move a team to the right     Penalties (poor assessment averages or poor behavior) move a team to the left

  First Downs

Any assessment given using the eInstruction hand-helds displays the overall cumulative average of all the students in the class on the given assessment.  The following cumulative assessment averages will earn the corresponding first downs or steps to the right on the CFL field:

100% average  = 5 first downs

99 - 95% average = 4 first downs

94 - 90% average = 3 first downs

89 - 85% average = 2 first downs

84 - 82% average = 1 first down

Outstanding individual performances by a player during daily practice may results in additional first downs at the discretion of Coach Cooley

Penalties

Any assessment given using the eInstruction hand-helds displays the overall cumulative average of all the students in the class on the given assessment.  The following cumulative assessment averages will earn the corresponding penalties or steps to the left on the CFL field:

Below 60% average  = 5 penalties

60-63% average = 4 penalties

64-67% average = 3 penalties

68-70% average = 2 penalties

71% average = 1 penalties

Inappropriate behavior by individual player during daily practice may results in additional penalties at the discretion of Coach Cooley
